He was predeceased by: his parents, Ova Russell and Myrtilla Lewis (McConnaughey); his wife Rosemary "Rose" Lewis (Mick); his children, Jay Alan Lewis and Mary M. Ray; and his sister Kathryn Walker.
He is survived by: his children, Ova G. and Terri L. Brooks (Charlie) of Lynchburg; his grandchildren, Amy Berry, Jeremy Lewis (Nikki), Jay Winkle (Alyssia), John Craycraft (Patty), Andy Winkle (Megan), Bradi Black (Clint), Jerrod Shoemaker and Lesley Hattan (Fred); and his great grandchildren, Karleigh Berry, Kyleigh Berry, Keaton Winkle, Oakley Winkle, Riggs Winkle, Penelope Winkle, Jack Winkle, Silas Black, Trisstan Shoemaker, Caleb Shoemaker, Justice Hattan, Layla Hattan, Landry Hattan and Jobey Hattan.
