She was predeceased by: her parents, Gertrude Cook (Wilson) and William Callahan Cook (Gertie); her husband Richard Lee Dowell Jr.; her former husband Lovell Babb; her parents-in-law, Richard Lee Dowell Sr. and Cleona Burnes; and her son Richard "RJ" Dowell III.
She is survived by: her daughters, Heather Dowell-Gilbert (Brett) of Newark, Jasmine, Autumn, Mariah, Harlie and Ashlynn Dowell; her grandchildren, Ravyn, Keegan, Corey, Leona and Link; her great grandchild Lincoln James; her daughter Charlene Overbey; and her close friend Marge West. She is also survived by her children and foster children.
