He was predeceased by: his parents, G. Lyle and Dorothy Coon, Sr. (Spencer); his son-in-law Robert Piehl; his grandson Jacob Piehl; his great grandchild Rylee Grace Piehl; and his sister Maryann Piehl.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick Coon (Jeannette) of Harrod, Erik Coon (Rhonda) of LaFayette, Dorothy Piehl of Harrod and Kelly Armstrong (Kevin) of Bellefontaine; and his grandchildren, Charity Piehl, Adam Piehl (Ashley), Elijah Piehl (Crista), Emily Piehl, Ashley Garberson (Ryan), Seth Coon (Angela), Zac Armstrong and Spencer Coon. He is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren.
