He is survived by: his wife Ursula Grote; his children, Edmund Grote (Melissa), Guenter Jr. Grote, Cornelia Berkemeier (Timothy) and Annette Grote (Thomas Hensler); his grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathan, Jessie, Gage, Katlyn, Morgan, Nathan, Curtis, Mariah, Timothy, Austin, Dylan, Kirstiauna and Wyatt; his great grandchildren, Savanah, Serenity, Ryan, Addison, Beau, Juliauna, Colton and Aspyn; and his brother Siegfried. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Theresa Benedicta of the Cross in his memory.
