He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Stephens and Etna Stephens (Hamlin); his siblings, Willard Stephens, Clifford Stephens and Thelma Strunk; and his grandson Jerry Whitaker.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Stephens; his children, Shonda Whitaker, Marty Stephens, Mike Stephens (Kim), Shivonna Vaughn (Paul) and Jason Stephens (Tammy); and his siblings, Harold Stephens, Ida Kerr (Eldon) and Nancy Strunk. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
