She was predeceased by: her husband Thomas F. Claar; her sisters, Tura Griffis and Garnet Moore; her siblings-in-law, Edward "Ted" Griffis and Jean Moore; and her son-in-law Steven G. Thomas.
She is survived by: her children, Linda J. Thomas of Hamden and Michael L. of Hamden; her daughter-in-law Mary Claar of Hamden; her brother John L. Moore of Hamden; and her grandchildren, Angela L. Knox (Carl) of McArthur, Melissa L. Hendershott (Steve) of Wellston, Michael T. Claar (Alicia) of Wellston and Adam L. Claar (Ashleigh) of McArthur. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family politely requests that all donations in Ruth's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 ST Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
