He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloysius Heinlein and Mary Bopp Heinlein; his wives, Florence and Carol Ann; his son Randy Heinlein; his granddaughter Sara Lopez; and his siblings, Frankie Heinlein, James Heinlein and Mary Ann Rotoli.
He is survived by: his children, Bonnie VanGelder, Pam Knoeferl, Liz Brown, Darlene Grace, Richard Heinlein (Gwen), Rodney Heinlein, Robbin Kapriotti (Peter), Rory Heinlein and Belinda McDermott; and his sister Sharon Hafner. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
