He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Canter and Ruth Keifer Canter; his wife Daisy R. Chesser Canter; and his children, Dale L. Canter, Richard D. Canter and Emily Buckannan.

He is survived by: his daughters, Cindy Pyle (Randy), Tracie Forsyth (Dan), Verna Lutz (Mike) and Norma White (Dustin Wheeler); and his sister Kathren Canter. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.
