He was predeceased by: his parents, George Washington and Rachel Cox Burgess; and his wife Anna Parker Burgess. He is survived by: his children, Jonni Blackwell-Coler, Betsy Blackwell-Schaeffer (Michael), Rodney Burgess (Pam) and Jackie Burgess. He is also survived by his wife Anna were foster parents for the Athens County Children Services for over 25 years, parenting many, many children.
