She was predeceased by: her parents, George J. Glaize and Betty Glaize (Bletzacker); her husband Joseph W. Hemphill, Sr.; her daughter Judith Mikel Johnston; and her brothers, Sonny, Chuck and Bobby Glaize.

She is survived by: her children, Mary-Joe Pell (Greg), Joey Hemphill (Denise), Betty Ann Taylor (Tim) and Shirley Kaye Perkins (John); her son-in-law Randy Johnston; her grandchildren, Jeromie Pell (Carla), Jessica Miller (Seth), Josh McCabe (Miranda Corner), Christopher J. Slane (Kelsey), Joseph W. Hemphill III and Robert Stone Sanders; her great grandchildren, Tristyn, Taylor, Kensley McCabe, Olivia and Daxton Slane; and her sister Mitzi Bechtel. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
