He was predeceased by: his son Jerry M. Dunigan; and his parents, Elmer Carpenter and Frances Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Judy Dunigan (Konkus); his children, Kim Dunigan, Karen Johnston (John), Theresa Dunigan and Tom Dunigan (Jenny Badillo); his grandchildren, Will, Christopher, Heather (Lacrease), Kyle, Cody (Jessica), Jordan (Carissa), Hilary (James), Nathan, Brittany and Blaine; his great grandchildren, Xavier, Jayden, Tyrin, Kelena, Karter, Ruby, Vada, Kinleigh, Kamrie, Hunter, Morgan, Emmanuel and Payton; his siblings, Sharon Schilling (Larry), Loy Dunigan (Polly) and Stan Dunigan; and his pet Lacey. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
