He was predeceased by: his sisters, Bonny Hale, Betty Shepherd, Bethel Shepherd (Abraham) and Pearly Tuttle (Nick). He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Barnett (Shepherd); his children, Ed Scott Barnett of Tiro, Oscar Barnett (Ann) of Tiro, Trent Barnett of Greenwich, Conway Barnett of Greenwich, Wesley Barnett (Linsey) of Willard, Lacella Lillo (Charlie) of Shelby, Jennifer Beverage (David) and Fairfield Suanna Barnett; and his siblings, Barbara Hale (John), Wanda Cook, Maxine Peterson, Willis Barnett (Linda), Bobby Barnett, Ellis Barnett (Sharon), William Barnett, Monroe Barnett (Tammy), Wayne Barnett (Patty), Leonard Barnett (Janet), Henry Hale and Tony Shepherd. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
