He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Sowards and Sarah Ellen Sowards; and his son-in-law William Ray Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Jane Sowards; his daughters, Lynne Ray of North Fairfield and Sheryl Dupee of Willard; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rivers (Robert), Jason Keinath, Jacquelyn Uselton and John Ray (Tracey); his great grandchildren, Kristopher, Faith, Joshua, Meghan, Tristan, Hailey, Alexis, Lauren, Owen, Gunner and Gianna; and his sister Barbara.
