He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Shields and Beulah Shields (Younce); his wife Betty Shields; his daughter Brenda Wise; his grandsons, Tom Wise and Jeff Wise; and his grandson-in-law Dave "Bubba" Willoughby.
He is survived by: his daughter Paula "Polly" (Danny Artz); his sister Gaye Phelps of Punta Gorda, FL; his grandchildren, Pam, Jon Whitaker and Tina Willoughby; his great grandchildren, Mason Whitaker, Micah Whitaker, Hunter Willoughby, Faith Whitaker, Brett Wise, Sierra Wise, Seth Wise and Lucas Wise; and his cousins, Marybeth, David Pritz, Arcanum, Dave "Perk" and Laura Perkins of Beavercreek, Ohio.
