He was predeceased by: his parents, Ovid Oren and Fay Opal Hobbs (Hobbs); and his former wife Constance "Connie" Hobbs (Dent). He is survived by: his wife Ann Hobbs (Renfro); his children, Stacy, Ryan Hoying, Scott and Michelle Hobbs; his stepson Tommy (Jordan Renfro); his grandchildren, Lauren Hoying, Lillian Hobbs, Madeline Hobbs, Lincoln Hobbs, Nora Renfro and Ava Renfro; and his sister Wilma Jean Nisonger.
