It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dora Carle Smith of Greenfield, Ohio, born in Leesburg, Ohio, who passed away on October 24, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Z. Mercer and Grace Ellen Mercer (Redkey); her former husband Robert Carle; her grandson Scott Lee Penwell; her son-in-law Bruce Jackson; and her siblings, Wayne Mercer, Alva Mercer, Fred Mercer, Virginia Gill, Louise Lawrie, Ruth Crouch, Nancy Daugherty and Lydia Snyder.
She is survived by: her husband David E. Smith, Sr.; her son Randy Carle of Leesburg; her adoptive son Brian Carle of Greenfield; her daughters, Diana Penwell (Ken) of Sabina, Cheryl Jackson of Leesburg, Mickey Fultz (Jim) of Greenfield, Kathy Ackley (Tom) of Greenfield, Debra Bivens (Phil) of Hillsboro and Kristy Carle of Hillsboro; her stepdaughters, Mary Jane Webb of Williamsport and Kathy Ann Webb of Williamsport; her sister Janice Runyon of Hillsboro; and her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Carle of Sebring, FL and Mary Jane Mercer of West Virginia. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; four step great great-grandchildren.
