He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Marilyn A. Fries; his children, Carolyn Vordenberge (Jim), Marybeth McIntyre (Bill) and Joe Fries (Wini); his parents, Loretta Fries and Joseph A. Fries, Sr.; and his grandchildren, Beth Hartman, Jimmy, Cara (Vordenberge), Tom, Anne Marie (McIntyre), Adelaide, Piper and Beatrice (Fries).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James the Greater Grade School.
