He was predeceased by: his spouse Rita P. "Pat" Vater; his grandchild Brock; his parent Hazel Vater; and his sibling Robert. He is survived by: his children, Gary (Tricia), David (Joan) and Steve Vater (Anita); his grandchildren, Kevin, Jeff, Timothy, Brian, Jessica, Allyson, Brandon, Hydee, Zoey, Raymond, Penelope, Logan and Lilliana; his parent Hugh Vater; his siblings, Viola Rahe and Carrie Vater; his niece Michelle Combs (Tom); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Vanessia and Coby.
