He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Merrill and Mary Merrill (Blevins); and his granddaughter Tiffany Howard-Sharrett. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Ronnie Merrill (Laura), Disa Bridges (Chip Emrick), Denise Howard (Dean), Rodney Merrill (Tonya), Dee Ann Harris (Mark) and Rob Merrill (Kristen); his grandchildren, Shannon, Dustin, Jacob, Morgan, Ashley, Jessie, Lauren, Allison, Hudson and Grayson; and his great grandchildren, Christian, Tiffany B., Maddie, Ava, Adeline, Bonny and Aurelia. He is also survived by 3 siblings.
