He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ott and Josephine Ott (Kempf) of Grand Rapids; his wife Wilma Ruth (Puehler); and his siblings, Delbert, John, Robert, Martha, Angela and Ursula.

He is survived by: his children, Michael Ott (Nancy), Rose Main (Fred) of Thomas Ott, MD and Ruth Ott; and his grandson Joshua Main.
