He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Townsend and Gladys Townsend; his granddaughter Alicia Smith; his daughter-in-law Tammy; and his siblings, Winnie, Zela, Betty, Charles, James and Danny.
He is survived by: his wife Anna Mae; his children, Carol Smith (John), Connie Smith (Jimmy) of Grafton and Harry L. Townsend Jr. of Pittsfield; his grandchildren, Munnette (Scott), Amanda, Justin (Tami), Michael (Courtney) and Danielle; and his great grandchildren, Aaron, Christian, Aidan, Conner, Jayce, Dakota, Jacob, Rachelle, Hayley and Mackenzie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
