He is survived by: his children, Suean Klamer, Joan Gregory (Marvin), Robin Swartz (James), Richard Porterfield (Dawn) and Ronald Porterfield (Gina); his sister Alice; his grandchildren, Harry, Elizabeth and Phyllis Hiles; and his brothers, William, Howard (Etta), Francis "Jerry" (Laura), Frank "Joe" (Sandra) and George "Hoppy" Porterfield (Lynn). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
