He was predeceased by: his parents, John Somple and Margaret Somple (Kohler); and his wife Mary Joan Somple (Rees). He is survived by: his children, John M. Somple (Lauren) of Bath, Mary Clemons of Aurora, Darice Jay (Jeff) of Girard, Neysa Gaskins (Chris) of Bainbridge, Margaret Hotz (Tim) of Butler and Collette Sheely (Rich) of Bainbridge. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
