He was predeceased by: his parents, Philo Shontz and Edith Shontz (McClimans); and his sister Della Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Leona Shontz (Richards); his children, Deborah Duer of Vienna, Donald G. Shontz Jr. of Miamisburg and Mark; his brother Ralph Milton Shontz of Hubbard; his son-in-law David Duer; his grandchildren, Mark, DJ and Lindsey; and his great grandchildren, Rowan, Roark, Nash and Nixon.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, in Donald's memory.
