He was predeceased by: his parents, Wylie Shafer and Clara Melva Shafer (Duncanson); and his brother Lee Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Patty Shafer (Heim); his sons, Carl Shafer, Jr. (Shari) of Georgetown and Roger Shafer of Georgetown, Ohio; his grandchildren, Allison Garbutt (Ron) of Georgetown and Erick Shafer of Loveland, Ohio; his great grandchildren, Kayla Hallwood, Elijah and Vera Garbutt; and his sister Pauline Groves of Bethel. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
