He was predeceased by: his stepfather Charlie McInturff; his brothers, Richard "Dick" (Elsie) and Jack Swicegood; and his stepsister Henrietta Newman. He is survived by: his family S. Navy; his wife Janet; his children, Chris Swicegood (Jaime) and Kimberly Laughrey (Chad); his grandchildren, Casey Courtright, Ryan Meinert, Brandon Swicegood, Cayden Swicegood, Alexandra Kunzi (Jay), Luke Johnston and Grace Laughrey; his great grandchild Sunni Franki Kunzi; his sister Marilyn Compton; and his sisters-in-law, Joan Swicegood and Connie Miller. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church's in c/o either Baptist Builders or Kids Camp Fund or Mount Carmel Hospice.
