She was predeceased by: her parent Sherman Layne; her son Gregory Lee; and her siblings, Raymond Layne, Henry Layne, Mack Layne, Loren Layne and Helen Halley.

She is survived by: her parent Virgie Halley Layne; her spouse Roger L. James; her children, Beverly Sue Knight (James) of Crown City, Cheryl Lynn Lynch (Mark) of Point Pleasant and Randall F. James (Rita) of Gallipolis; her close friends, Jean Fisher and Kermit Fisher; and her sister Betty Harless of Lexington Park. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
