He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Cornell-Mitchell and Melva Cornell-Mitchell; his siblings, Alvin Mitchell and Maxine Mitchell; and his grandson Philip Reece Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Thompson-Mitchell; his children, Norman Lee Mitchell Jr. of Salem, Ala, Greg Mitchell (Cindy) of Harpers Ferry, Kevin Mitchell (Linda) of Gallipolis, Phil (Susan Crum) of Gallipolis, Mark Mitchell (Kim) of Alexandria and Bethany (Lincoln Neal) of Gallipolis; and his siblings, Ray Mitchell of Cheshire, Fred Mitchell of Georgia, Nancy James of Gallipolis and Donna Roberson (Carroll) of Mississippi. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideons or Holzer Hospice.
