He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward William and Mamie Casto Gillenwater; his wife Alice Memphis Brumfield Gillenwater; his sons, Gerald Lee Gillenwater and Larry Joe Gillenwater; and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Pearl Gillenwater.
He is survived by: his children, Kenny Gillenwater (Brenda) of Crown City, David Gillenwater (Sandy) of Crown City, Ronnie Gillenwater (Jackie) of Crown City, Rita Craig (Tony) of Waterloo and Eric Gillenwater (Holly); and his great great grandchildren, Waverly Dawn Secoy, Kahmila Penic and KayVajonn Penic. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.
