He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor LaVan and Mable LaVan (Leonard); his former wife Maria LaVan (Bruge); his wife Doris Sidwell LaVan (Fischer); and his siblings, Martha Elizabeth Crissey and Harry Boyd LaVan.
He is survived by: his children, Erika Funk of Galion, Laura Flynn (Robert) of Maryville, John Sidwell (Sue) of Maryville, Robert Sidwell (Molly) of Windermere, Ed Sidwell (Beth) of Fort Mill and Glenn La Van of Mt. Gilead. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Richardson Davis Chapel (218 S Market St, Galion, OH 44833). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
