He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur John and Gladys Mae Scott (Eckert); his wife Mary McCaffrey; his son Douglas Badgley; his sister F. Jean Leapley; and his great grandchild Owen.

He is survived by: his daughter Beth Carpenter (Craig) of Galion; his granddaughters, Lisa Crates (Andrew) of Arlington and Sara Hall (Heath) of Lawton, OK; his great grandchildren, Emma, Morgan, Mason, Averie, Garrett and Abby; and his niece Susan Snyder of Fort Wayne, Indiana.. He is also survived by his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Russell to the Friends of the Crawford Park District, 2401 State Route 598, Crestline, Ohio 44827 or Honor Flight Columbus, P.O. Box 20133, Columbus, Ohio 43220.
