He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Gonya and Helen Gonya (Snyder); his in-laws, Wilbert and Mabel Lochotzki; his brother Raymond Gonya; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Gates and Kathleen Lochotzki; and his niece Kathleen Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Gonya; his children, Terry (Laura) of Davidson, NC, Brian (Julie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Jeffery (Leslie) of Dayton, OH, Jason of Houston, TX and Dee Dee Foos (Steve) of Fremont, OH; his brother Charles Gonya; and his siblings-in-law, Betty, Lois Gonya, Ann Lochotzki, Marge St. Bonore, Karl Gates, Donald, Dennis Lochotzki and George St Bonore. He is also survived by five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Keller Funeral Home (416 S Arch St, Fremont, OH 43420). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, Heartland Hospice or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, honoring his commitment to both health advocacy and community support.
