The memory of Margaret Bates of Fremont, Ohio, who passed away on January 3, 2025 at the age of 86, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marcellus Lewis and Margaret Lewis (Brown); her daughter Tonda Page; her siblings, Marcellus Lewis Jr., Marshall Lewis, Lawrence Lewis, Robert Lewis and Roxanne Peck; and also, Nathaniel Bates, Mary Golson, Calvin "Jack" Bates, Queen Esther Brooks, Rose Mae Ezell, Jesse Bates and Roberta Sanders.
She is survived by: her husband Herman Bates; her children, Herman Bates, Jr. of Fremont, OH, Sabrina Bates of Fremont, OH and Tiffany Bates of Fremont, OH; her brother Calvin Lewis (Evelyn) of Rochester, NY; her siblings-in-law, Barb Lewis, Joan Lewis, Sue Lewis and Bill Peck; and also, Alberta Harris, Cleo Bates and Leo Bates. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Greater St. James Church (629 6th St, Fremont, OH 43420).
