Betty Catherine McVay Obituary
Betty C. McVay, 85, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a brief illness.
Betty was born on June 30, 1936 in Rowlesburg, WV to the late Walter E. and Myrtle (Cramer) Masters and was a 1954 graduate of Rowlesburg High School. On May 24, 1957 she married Manley "Junior" McVay and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2004. Betty had worked at the Wooster Telephone Office, Wooster Brush and Fredericksburg Pottery and had made her home in Fredericksburg most of her life. She was a woman of faith who loved caring for people and was always talking and visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed yard work, traveling and being on the road, either taking Amish neighbors or with friends, and she enjoyed going to yard sales.
Surviving are her sons, Edward (Paula Wellman) McVay of Fredericksburg and Michael McVay of Kidron; grandchildren, Zac (Amber) McVay, Jordan McVay, Josh McVay, Jacob McVay, Shelby (Zachary) Thompson and Joey McVay; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Skye and Aalhyah McVay and Jocelyn, Chloey and Paisley Thompson; a sisters, Wanda Lewis of Baltimore, MD and in-laws, Mozell Yoder, Vada McVay, Joyce McVay Degler and Harold Shaffer and special friends, Ruth Gingerich and Emma Miller.
Services will be Friday, Dec. 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with burial following in Fredericksburg East Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
