He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Lavender and Lora Porter Lavender; and his siblings, Earl, Ernie, Walter, George Lavender, Betty Davis and Helen Mays.
He is survived by: his wife Maxine Carter Lavender; his children, David Lavender (Marilyn), Janice Thomas (Darrell), Kathy Jimison (John) and Marsha Minard; and his brother Harry Franklin Lavender. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
