He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold W. Ackley and Marie Ellen Willis; his stepmother Nellie E. Ackley; his sister Linda Brown (Frank); his siblings-in-law, Jo Anne Schmauss (Bob), Harry Lee Bower (Patty) and John Counts; and his grandparents, Howard and Eva Ackley.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Mae "Maggie" Bower; his children, Rob Ackley (Cheryl) of Chillicothe, Sheryl Lynn Ackley of Galloway, Scott Ackley (Brandi) of Sedalia and Neil Ackley (Bryan) of Los Angeles, CA.; his grandchildren, Kyle, Julienne, Cory, Taite, Michelle, Paige, Layton and Aryn; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Sophia, Jocelyn, Paisley, Mya, Jace, Ava, Madison, Austin and Charlie; his siblings, Jenny Howland (Tim) and Tom Ackley (Kathy) of Greenfield; his siblings-in-law, Frances Counts, June Putnam (Kelvin) of Frankfort, Linda Johnson (Jim) of Douglasville, GA, Ben Bower (Liann) of Moscow, FL and Charlie Bower (Tami) of Xenia; and his close friend Evie Snyder. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Frankfort American Legion to further support the Legion that Sam loved.
