He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Smith-Plasters and Bessie Massie Smith-Plasters; his wife Connie Lou Marcum; his daughter Vicki Lynn Smith; his daughter-in-law Lori Jo Smith; and his siblings, Evelyn Newton, Marjorie Thompson, Wilma J. Finley, Jeff Smith, Charles Smith, Harold Smith, Homer Smith, Warren Smith and Harry Smith.
He is survived by: his sons, Johnny Smith II (Rebecca J.) of Columbus, Michael L. Smith of Frankfort and Todd Smith (Robbie) of Frankfort. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
