He was predeceased by: his father Paul Bethel; and his nephew Cory Pennington. He is survived by: his mother Virginia Bethel (Stanton); his wife Michelle D. Pennington; his children, Sgt. Joseph P Bethel, Courtney D. Buening (Mitchell) and Whitney D. Bethel (Jake Perry); his grandchildren, Aleeah B. Bethel and Corey L. Perry; his sister Jane Osborne (Jim); and his niece Megan Osborne.
