He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hoersten and Catherine Hoersten (Pohl); his sister Eleanor Hermiller (Lawrence); and his brother-in-law David Gasser. He is survived by: his wife Janet Gasser; his children, Duane Hoersten (Cindy) of Ft. Jennings, Chris Hoersten (Wendy) of Ft. Jennings, Kevin Hoersten (Molly) of Ft. Jennings and Kari German (Darrin) of Ft. Jennings; his grandchildren, Ryan, Alexis, Katelynn, Evan, Adam, Aidan Hoersten, Mason Chase and Jocelyn German; his brother Len Hoersten (Sue) of Lee Summit, MO; and his sister-in-law Tina Good of Ft. Jennings.
