He was predeceased by: his father Richard O. Kimmick; his grandparents, Richard, Adele Kimmick, Lloyd and Beatrice Hill; and his close friend Lynn Marie Nagel.

He is survived by: his mother Florence Hill Hayes; his stepfather Alan Hayes; his daughter Mia R. Hughes Gillespie; his grandchildren, Blair, Brooklyn, Bellamy and Finley; and his sister Kathleen Burkhart.
