He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Stewart and Clarissa Stewart (Walker); and his siblings, Tillison Stewart, Matilda West, Gladys Cassels, Inez Boyd, Charmaine Ball, Clyde "Buck" Stewart and Marion Stewart.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jane Stewart; his son John Stewart (Greta); his stepchildren, Rick Cole, Randy Cole Sr., Susie Rogers and Karen Cole; and his siblings, Shirley Dokes (Ernest), Donnie Stewart (Janet), Imagene Hendricks and Clarissa Redman (Tom). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
