She was predeceased by: her parents, Edythe Marie Wiltheiss (Knoop) and Ernest Christopher Wiltheiss; her son Steven Thornton; and her brothers, Donald, Gene Richard, Ernest, Robert and Rev. Jack Wiltheiss.

She is survived by: her husband Robert Howard Thornton of Piqua; her children, Dr. Larry Thornton (Sandra) of Simpsonville, Tanya Thornton Shewell (Ralph) of Watkinsville and Gale Thornton (Judy) of Erie, Pennsylvania.; her grandchildren, Kimberly Thornton Weaver (Stephen) of Rochester, Heidi Thornton Arndt (William) of Simpsonville, Kristi Shewell Pollard (Donald) of Sperry, Oklahoma and Drs; and her sisters, Peggy Drennan of Covington and Carla Van Hoogen of Boise, Idaho.. She is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
