He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Kirkendall and Jesse Kirkendall (Spence); his wife Agnes Tackett; his son Gene Kirkendall Sr.; his siblings, Norman Kirkendall and Leoma Bish; his grandchildren, Troy and Gene Jr. Kirkendall; and his stepgranddaughter Jenny Troiano.
He is survived by: his sons, Lawrence Kenny Kirkendall of Florida and Terry Lee Kirkendall of Findlay; his daughter-in-law Margie Kirkendall of Maryland; his brother Wayne Kirkendall of Florida; and his grandchildren, Autumn Rivera (Nathan), Terence Kirkendall (Robin) and Travis Kirkendall (Holly).
