He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Benedict and Emma Jane Benedict (Brumbaugh); and his siblings, Bill Benedict (Lucy), Louise Smith (Royal), Mary Ann Lloyd (Tom), Jane Hinton (Bill), Mabel Witter (Gene) and Maxine Shafer (Alan).
He is survived by: his sister Shirley Heilman (Jim); his wife A. Joan Benedict (Grauel); his children, Julia Lynne Bauer (Chris), Jeffrey James (Sonja), Joel Edward (Jami) and Jay Douglas (Tina); his grandchildren, Hannah Mast (Justin), Justin Benedict (Tiffany), Rachel Ruetty (Jeff), Chad Benedict (Cori), John Bauer (Claire), Luke Benedict (Amanda) and Liza Johnson (Grant); and his great grandchildren, Ava, Isaac, Amelia Mast, Josie, Summer Benedict, Dylan Billups, Max, Maisie, Marlowe Ruetty, Micah, Jonah, Autumn, JJ, Everett, Davis Bauer, Carolyn Benedict and Ophelia Johnson.
