He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald D. Darnell and Ruthann Darnell (Hammond); his son James E. Barger II; his grandsons, Jarrod T. Barger, Evan A. Zeller, Joseph J. Barger and Nelson D. Barger; his great grandchildren, Kaylie M. Barger and Chase M. Wickman; his half-siblings, Larry Darnell and Cindy Sealscott; and his siblings, William Barger, Joan Ernst and Patricia Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Ann "Chum" Mathias; his children, Jeffery A. Barger (Jennie) of Findlay, Wallace Paul Barger, Eric R. Barger (Stephanie) of Forest, Melanie E. Adams (Anthony) of Findlay, Rachael S. Grimpel-Barger (John) of New York City, Mary A. Dunn (Robert) of Findlay, Anita K. Parsell (Jason) of Findlay, Rebekah R. Barrett (Mitchell) of Findlay and Benjamin A. Barger (Briana) of Kamiah, ID.; his sister Susan R. Huckoby (Robert); and his half-sisters, Barbara Hietcamp (Terry) and Doris R. Reinert (Gary). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins.
