He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Smith and Lela Smith (Allgire); and his wife Bonita "Bonnie" Landoll. He is survived by: his siblings, Donald Smith and Jacqueline Hohler; and his children, Linda Bash (Jeff) of Findlay, Laura Smith (Michael Romanczyk) of Toledo, Matthew Smith (Angela) of Westerville, Amy Heflinger (Craig) of Findlay, Mark Smith (Kirsten) of Westerville and Christine Thomas (Jeff) of Cincinnati. He is also survived by family has grown with 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
