He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Hartzell (Swartz) and Willard Hartzell; his wife Rita Herman; his grandson Joshua Hartzell; his sister Ruth Long; and his close friend Charlie.
He is survived by: his children, Edward Hartzell (Kaye) of Cincinnati, Roger Hartzell (Debbie), James Hartzell (Paula) of Bellevue and Karen Frederick (Robert) of Findlay; his grandchildren, Natalie, Andrea, Rob, Jennifer, Sarah, Rebecca, Matthew, Roger and Raquel; and his brother Charles Hartzell.
