He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Thackston and Carolyn Thackston; his son Eric Allen Thackston; his stepmother Betty Thackston; and his stepsister Marla Pridemore.
He is survived by: his wife Mary nee Binder Thackston; his children, Jessica Michelle Helton (Colt) of Blanchester and Michael Allen Thackston Jr. of Fayetteville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Michael Helton and Kaydee Helton; his sister Brenda Hummel (Harry) of Cincinnati; and his stepsister Lisa Hershner of Hamilton, Ohio. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
