She was predeceased by: her parents, Eldred Powell and Lela Virginia Powell; her brother Eldred Jay Powell; and her children, Virginia Gibson, Leanna Phillips, Adam Howard and Thomas Howard.
She is survived by: her husband Lenville Howard (Lynn); and her brother Bruce Powell. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joy's name to Dayton Children's Hospital per her request.
