He was predeceased by: his wife Bonnie Jean Manley; his parents, Rosa Nell Freeman and Harrison Manley; and his son Earl William Merrick. He is survived by: his children, Robin De La (Carlos), Richard Merrick Jr. (Michelle) and Elizabeth Manley (Katrina); his grandchildren, Amber Girdler, Justin Merrick, Nicolas De La Vega, Amanda Wager, William Merrick, Brittney Michalak, Hunter Manley, Robert Heater, Abigail Heater and Jonathan Heater; his niece Diane Martin; his cousin Earl Allen Claypool; and his friend Shep Boost. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
